Get Involved

Much of Live Light Live Right’s success is rooted in our powerful network of partners and an extended team of volunteers.  We are always seeking enthusiastic individuals and organizations to join us in our fight against obesity.

How you can help

Volunteer

Live Light relies on private contributions and the valuable support of community members to provide critical services.  We welcome assistance with grant-writing, clerical support, statistical analysis, program operations, physical fitness training, and special events.

We also seek experienced health professionals, including psychologists and mental health workers, and nutritionists who can provide added support to our obesity clinic.

Each year, Live Light offers a limited number of internship opportunities for students in the medical, public health, nutrition and statistics fields.

If you would like to join our volunteer team, please send your resume to info@livelight.org with your area of interest.

Community Partnerships

Live Light has strong links with a wide array of community agencies including faith-based organizations, schools, athletic facilities, and education programs to coordinate and maximize efforts to fight childhood obesity. If your organization would like to join forces, please contact Susan Blech at 718-221-1598 or info@livelight.org.

How We Can Help

Part of Live Light’s mission is to empower the community by sharing our expertise and knowledge through seminars, medical training, and program replication services. So, please reach out to us.

Patient Referrals

If you know of a child who can benefit from our services, please contact our medical intake coordinator 718-221-1598.

Workshops and Seminars

Live Light staff members are frequent presenters at community meetings, health fairs, and schools. Topics can range from healthy eating habits to the treatment of obesity.  If you are interested in conducting a workshop, obesity screening, or seminar at your organization, please contact Susan Blech at sblech@livelight.org.

Physician Training and Program Model Replication

Current medical school and residency curricula do not adequately address childhood obesity.  Many primary care physicians are not aware of the extent of the problem and are not well versed in the clinical management of obesity and associated disorders.  Live Light staff members deliver educational seminars for community doctors and regularly present at medical conferences such as the annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Society and local meetings of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  We also provide clinical training to pediatric residents and medical students. Live Light physician specialists have trained physicians and helped initiate programs at several hospitals in the New York City area.

For inquiries about medical training or setting up a similar program at your health institution, please contact  Dr. Sarita Dhuper at sdhuper@livelight.org.
