Donna Perry and Council Member Cornegy are honored to bring The Other “F” Word to the 36th Council District for the first time. The Other “F” Word will bring community leaders, CBO’s, parents and their children together to learn more about childhood obesity: its characteristics, causes affects and implications, resources, advocacy and its social implications in our communities. We want to be able to allow our children a safe place by which they can share their stories and journey feeling unashamed and uninhibited in their truths. Additionally we would also like to extend the dialogue to the parents of these children so that they can become educated in a more tangible way of how they can provide better support to their children and also advocate on their behalf.
This event is FREE to the public however registration is required. All participants can pre-register online at: https://theotherfwordregistration.eventbrite.com. Participants should also use the hashtags #TheOtherFWord and #LetsMove on all social media.
“As someone who has struggled with obesity as a child, I am excited and humbled to be able to partner with Council Member Cornegy and our esteemed panel to open a dialogue that goes beyond the medical walls but also includes our parents and their children. If we ever want to truly rid our communities of the growing epidemic of Childhood Obesity there has to be a sense of urgency and transparency. This forum will be the right step in the right direction.” says Donna Perry Ms. New York Plus America 2015 and Executive Director/Founder of F.AT.G.I.R.L.
